Rachmaninov "Vespers" Op.37

The Vespers, also known as The All-Night Vigil, consists of hymns and psalms sung in a night-long liturgical service in Russian monasteries and on the eve of holy days in Russian Orthodox churches.
Written in 1915, the 'Vespers' were Rachmaninov's last liturgical composition. Canon law of the Russian church requires that the 'Vespers' be performed by an unaccompanied chorus. Although Rachmaninov was not formally a member of the Orthodox church, his work adheres to the tradition, with many of its sections based on ancient slavonic melodies.

The ambient acoustic of St Francis Church is ideal for this mystical music.
